Layered

Digital photography collage

2025

This black and white photograph is a self-portrait that I took for my digital photography class. I was inspired by Robert Mapplethorpe’s photo of Patti Smith. I used layering and repetition to show movement and how different parts of my identity overlap and change over time. I experimented with digital techniques to create a final image that feels personal and expressive.

Midtown Muse

Digital photography, Adobe Lightroom

2026

This candid shot I took in my digital photography class features a photographer at work on the busy streets of New York City. I was inspired by the shared experience of creating art from different perspectives. The black and white editing highlights the different textures and tones, helping the subject stand out from the background. Through this piece I learned the importance of timing when capturing everyday moments.

2026

I took this photograph in my pre-college photography class by using a light painting technique. I experimented with a long exposure and a moving light to trace around the figure, creating a glowing outline around the dark background and subject. After directing the setting up and composition of the photograph, I assigned my classmates the tasks of movement and lighting.

 Unraveled

Digital photography, Adobe Photoshop

2025

This digital photo explores movement through vibrant colors and creative editing techniques. I used photoshop to create a swirling effect to make the hair appear to flow beyond the frame. The sense of motion gives this piece a rush of energy. This taught me how digital editing can transform an ordinary photo into something more expressive and abstract.

Through My Mother’s Eyes

Digital photography, Canva

2025

This digital portrait of my mother focuses on her eyes to express emotion and connection. The digital layering of black and white with color represents different feelings and perspectives. Before completing the final piece, I studied portraits that emphasize facial features and emotional expression.
